How to Determine the Right New Pool Size For Your Property

New Pool

Figuring out the right size of your new pool means taking a few considerations into mind and working alongside your pool installer.

If you’ve got the perfect home, it calls for the perfect new pool to go with it. That said, you’re going to want to find a pool that’s the right size for you. That means enough space to accommodate everyone in the family as well as guests or any loved ones who may drop by for a dip. By the same token, you may need to think of what works best for children or what your specific needs are if you like taking laps or are just looking for a place to relax at the end of a long day. It’s not always easy to determine how big your new pool should be though, as you want to strike the right balance with your pool installer to make something that works for you and your family.

How Much Space?

Remember that there is a huge variety in what pools are out there. There are all kinds of sizes, shapes, styles, and depths you can pick from to find something that matches your needs. Typical pools range in 14 to 20 feet wide and 28 to 40 feet long, so you’re going to want to make sure your installation site has at least that much room (but much more is good for having some breathing room). If you want a lap pool or diving pool, you’re going to need even more space, so be prepared for that. Creating a shallow area for children may also mean installing a larger pool. Just remember that you don’t want to take up all of your yard space with a gigantic pool; having some space for lawn chairs or a gazebo can go a long way in making a backyard feel complete.

What Restrictions Exist?

There may be physical restrictions when it comes to installing your new pool. This could be something like an underground septic tank or utility lines that make installing a pool difficult, so you may need to have your yard surveyed. Other restrictions may include sloped properties, where hills can make the pool installation process exceedingly difficult or in some cases even impossible. Working alongside a pool installer can help you figure out the next steps.

What About Equipment?

Installing a pool requires some large equipment to come into your property, so you want to leave enough room for your contractor to get in and get the job done. You also want to make sure you leave adequate space for storing all of your own pool equipment and fun accessories like floaties.
